My Boyfriend is a recent Ex Jehovah Witness

i have been dating my boyfriend for almost a year now.

when i met him i had no idea that he was a jehovah witness.

we took a vacation and he lied to his parents about who he was with, and they ended up finding out not only that he way lying, but who i was.

This is like de ja vu!!!!!! (I am a fading ex-J.W. by the way)

I had a long term connection with a girl who was in exactly the same situation as yourself. She tried every way possible to get the love of her life to waken up to the fact that he was in a cult. After two years of anguish, she was dumped and he returned to the family home! She is now recovering from her lengthy mental trauma and ditching.

Unless your boyfriend can see - and admit it to you & himself - that he's been immersed into a cult, then do exactly as St. George of England advised, run like hell!

I hope your choice comes easily and quickly - whichever way it goes.

The problem with the word 'kings' is that early translators have that particular option for the original Greek word. Subsequent translations - including RNWT - clung on to 'kings'. Other alternatives are, to reign as a governor, of the reign of Christians in the millennium, reign with authority.

I say "problem" because Psalm 45:16 prophesies that 'princes' will be appointed on the earth - not kings. Princes are sons & brothers.

Spot on DARKSPILVER. Diogenesister's various Bible translations shown that a priesthood will be serving upon the earth - not reigning as kings in heaven.

Even the WTBTS correctly translates the Greek in their Kingdom Interlinear Translation by stating that the priests will be UPON the earth, not OVER it. Wonder why they alter the wording in their RNWT?

Why is the "faithful slave" not declaring the COMPLETE kingdom message?

During the past 80 years, thanks to the "slave's" direction, J.W.'s have never preached the complete good news to people of all the nations, namely, that they can have the hope of living on a paradise earth forever, or they could become king/priests in heaven. How could inspired men fail to proclaim such a crucial Bible teaching?

Which Bible Translation

i have seen a few comments about the nwt being an altered version of the bible and i must admit that when they released the new one it did not sit right with me.. i want to read the bible but not the nwt.

i also do not want to read one that has the thee and thou and ye etc because that will do my head in.. what translations do you recommend?.

Easy answer - don't use one, use several - and when you feel impelled to compare contrasting verses, seek out a Hebrew/Greek concordance on-line to establish which translation is nearer the original meaning.

You'll eventually see that various translations have been lazy/doctrinally biased, and simply plagiarised other badly translated verses; e.g Revelation 5:10 - "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." (King James Version)

The RNWT copied the word 'kings' - instead of using 'kingdom' as other Bibles do, and changed the Greek word for 'on' into 'over.' Some other translations do likewise.

so i was reading thru a fb feed about poor chester bennington and in relation chris cornell, there were some rather heated and unusual (or usual whatever you may think ) comments... no disrespect to believers but since leaving the jws i just see this type of discussion as lunacy.

... "chester is going to hell ,he killed himself so it's black and white in god's word ."..

"why would a loving god send a person who suffers from mental illness to hell?

"One who intentionally takes his own life, does so in utter disregard for the sacredness of life; he becomes bloodguilty. When one commits suicide while in possession of one’s mental faculties, this shows one to be void of morality, lacking faith, having no fear of God. It is a cowardly act, where one refuses to face up to the problems and responsibilities of life."

Spot on WTBTS, the three individuals I've known who committed suicide were in total possession of all their mental faculties and had absolutely no justification for committing self-murder as you describe it.

What a loving and compassionate organization you are - clearly, God IS directing you.
